Same Sex Couples Gain Right to Marry in Scotland
Love, marriage and democracy! A new law passed in Scotland gives equality to both gay and heterosexual couples – allowing people who choose to marry to follow their hearts in spirit and in law. Scottish democracy has shown us to be a society which values freedom of choice, belief and expression as well as respecting the differences amongst us. We all share the same human values – the change was supported by many people of faith and without religious beliefs. We, in the Humanist Fellowship of Scotland, are delighted to help all couples celebrate a choice to marry the person you love. We look forward to embracing that spirit in a humanist wedding ceremony when the new law comes into force in the Autumn.
