Geraldine spent 40 years in the Education field as a teacher, lecturer and manager and during this time she saw and learned a great deal about life from her students, their families and her colleagues.
She is an experienced public speaker, both in a personal and professional capacity. Her ability to listen to others is very much part of what she brings to her role as a Celebrant.
It important to her that significant life markers are given appropriate words as part of the celebration of a life that has been. While understanding that there are patterns to our lives as humans she deeply appreciates the specialness of each person’s experience, and so is sensitive to the need to do justice to each unique life and occasion. Words of poetry and prose, music and song can enhance our understanding of the most complex of experiences, happy and sad, and sometimes both.
Having brought up her family in Edinburgh, Geraldine now lives in a beautiful setting in the Scottish Borders. All three of her sons had very meaningful and lovely humanist wedding ceremonies. She is happy to undertake ceremonies in the Borders, Edinburgh, East, West and Midlothian, Lanarkshire, Fife, Glasgow and Dumfries and Galloway. What people have said about my funerals
Many thanks for all you have done for us over the past 5 days. The ceremonies yesterday, both at the Church hall and also at the graveside, were lovely and I don’t think the day could have gone any better.
Sincere thanks for everything over the past few weeks. You really captured both Ina and Eddie’s lives perfectly! Heartfelt thanks from the Douglas family
Thank you very much for a job excellently done today. Given that you were working from memories (sometimes vague) provided by the family I thought you captured Ina’s life perfectly and brought her memory alive with your words today. During the whole process you handled the situation and family with great respect and professionalism. You were a pleasure to deal with and I wish you all the best.
I must thank you for being so considerate all along, and for delivering the tribute so passionately and professionally. I would also add that I had heard that even staunch believers were very impressed!
